Description
Project initiated and supported by Éric Oberdorff / Compagnie Humaine
Founded in 2010, the European network Studiotrade brings together thirteen partners across nine countries around a shared vision: making collaboration, rather than competition, the driving force of dance and the arts. Defending artistic freedom, it gathers artists beyond borders to promote knowledge sharing and develop cooperative projects that facilitate the international circulation of works and artists, as an alternative to conventional funding.
Inspired by the bodies they observe in streets, public spaces, schools, retirement homes, factories, and prisons, choreographers São Castro, Teresa Alves da Silva (Portugal), Laurynas Žakevičius, Rokas Šaltenis, Airida Gudaitė (Lithuania), and Tchina Ndjidda (France-Cameroon) experiment with materiality, consistency, and truth, resonating with poetry, creativity, and boldness. On an overheated planet, where successive upheavals challenge societies and values, these works invite reflection on identity, migration, aging, twinship, and the representation of masculinity.
