French Premiere
With an exhilarating surge of sound, movement, and imagery, this Australian company offers a performance—and an immersive experience—connected to the universe.
Their last visit to France with the highly acclaimed Dust was in 2021, making this year’s return of Dancenorth and choreographers Amber Haines and Kyle Page unmissable.
Wayfinder, created in 2022, draws its gestural and emotional inspiration from an organic relationship with the world, rooted in Aboriginal philosophy. Beyond words and appearances, the work seeks reconnection to the central axis of the universe, using the natural elements—stars, waves, sun—as a compass. True to its title, Wayfinder charts a path toward this original ‘state of being.’ The piece presents a kaleidoscope of movement, music, and visuals—explosive, inspiring, and meticulously orchestrated. Under the sparkling lights of Niklas Pajanti, eight performers move with precision, accompanied by the poly-rhythmic Australian band Hiatus Kaiyote, thrice Grammy-nominated, and sound artist Byron J. Scullin. The Nippo-Australian artist Hiromi Tango, responsible for the set and costumes, designed luminous, mysterious giant pearls that circulate through the audience. Vibrant and joyous, this collaboration expands perception and immerses the viewer fully in the performance.
