Description
The Festival is strengthening its ties with the Pôle National Supérieur de Danse Rosella Hightower, offering dancers of the Cannes Jeune Ballet a privileged space for experimentation and encounters with renowned choreographers.
Through this programme, the performers develop their stage experience with works of distinctive choreographic voices, including Dreamers, a new creation commissioned from Pontus Lidberg.
Inspired by the mystical poetry of Rumi, a 13th-century figure who lived through a world marked by upheaval, the piece resonates strongly with our own time. True to his creative process, the choreographer draws on the individuality of the dancers to shape the choreographic material. Revisiting a work originally created in Dresden, he explores here a new incarnation, shaped by the energy and sensitivity of these young performers.
Lorena Nogal, a member of the collective La Veronal, created Infinite last year as part of a series of performances developed at La Malmaison, in resonance with the universe of visual artist Jean-Michel Othoniel. This initial collaboration with the Cannes Jeune Ballet gave rise to a stage piece for eleven dancers, in which movement unfolds as an uninterrupted flow, each gesture generating the next in an organic and cyclical dynamic.
A third piece will complete the programme, highlighting the full versatility of the dancers’ training.
