Considered to be among the most inventive Portuguese choreographers of their generation, Jonas&Lander take the audience on a journey through a hybrid creation that fuses dance and music.

Bate Fado, a dance concert sublimated by Jonas's heart-rending voice, takes us back to 19th-century Lisbon, where fado celebrated not melancholy melodies but joyful tones set to energetic, virtuoso tap dancing. For one evening, these Portuguese choreographers and performers take up the daring challenge of resurrecting the pulsating heart of the original Fado!

The two Portuguese choreographers met in 2010 at the Higher School of Dance in Lisbon. Since then, they have created several shows together, including Matilda Carlota (2014), Adorabilis (2017) and Coin Operated (2019), and developed projects with local communities. In 2015, they founded a fado house in the village of Sintra, Sinistra, which is the headquarters of their production company. Bate Fado, created in 2021, has been hailed by Portuguese newspapers as the best dance piece of the year.
