Programming advisor, Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse (2011-2022)

Jarmo Penttila obtained his state dance teacher’s diploma in France and Sweden and his certificate of aptitude for dance teacher’s functions before pursuing a career as a dancer-performer with Jean-Claude Gallotta, Odile Duboc and Daniel Dobbels (1980-2000). He was a guest teacher at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Lyon and at the Centre National de la Danse in Pantin (1998-2004).

He has assisted choreographers such as Michèle Noiret (Belgium), Stephen Petronio (New York) and Boyzie Cekwana (South Africa) with their creations, as well as reviving repertory pieces by Jean-Claude Gallotta, José Limon and Merce Cunningham.  He has also choreographed for films and alternative stages (Centre Pompidou, Paris, etc.). He is Maître de Ballet at the Centre Chorégraphique National, Ballet de Lorraine, Nancy (2000-2011), where he is also responsible for recording and editing dance performances. Jarmo Penttila is programming advisor and project manager at Chaillot – Théâtre National de la danse, Paris (2011-2022), where he oversaw the design of the clips produced for the “Vue sur les marches” event. He is a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (2006).
